Sleep, or Lack Thereof

Well, so much for the whole “going to sleep and waking up early” thing. Last night I got in bed around 9 PM to try and recreate the previous night, and I spent about an hour and a half staring at the inside of my eyelids trying everything I could to fall asleep, including not trying anything. Nothing. So I got up and ended up staying awake until about 4. Thanks brain.

Tonight’s no different. I’m sitting here 3 AM wide awake, and it’s really sorta pissing me off. Maybe trying to make a decent sleep schedule happen is causing me to stay on a messed up one. I’m gonna set my alarm for “early” tomorrow to see if I can shock my body into going to sleep early tomorrow night. I’ll let you know how that goes.

On a brighter note, I’ve been hitting a consistent 2 miles on the elliptical at the gym and it feels great. I start Project Pec Blast on Friday, so I hope I can be rested for it tomorrow night.

I also recently started replaying Super Paper Mario for the Wii. I’m about 8 hours in and I’m remembering how much I love this game. If you haven’t played it, I highly suggest it.

I thought you should know that I just found a bag of peppermint sticks in my night stand and it MADE MY NIGHT.

Well, that’s all for me. I’m gonna lay in bed and hope for sleep to hit. Or just watch Friends.

Early To Bed, Early To Rise

Good morning. It’s coming up on 6 AM, but unlike most times when I’m awake at this hour, this is AFTER a full night’s sleep instead of before. Last night I got really tired around 9 PM, and usually when that happens I do something to wake myself up for another 6-8 hours. This time, I went to bed. I passed out easily by 9:30 PM, and woke up this morning feeling rather chipper at 5:30 AM. It’s a very strange feeling.

I say strange because I’m actually enjoying being up this early. Usually when the clock says 5:30 AM I’m trying to find some way to fall asleep. This time I get to wake up and start my day before even my dad gets up, which is usually really early. My excuse for staying up super late has been that I get a lot of stuff done in that many hours, but thinking about it, the truth is that I’m never really that productive. Sure, the other night I completely redesigned my website, which was very productive, but that’s something I could have done in the next 6-8 hours before I would usually wake up. Most of the time I’m just staring blankly at Facebook or lazily playing a game. I had a more productive night last night by actually sleeping. This might become my new schedule, or something similar to it.

To continue the productivity, I think I might go make breakfast, and then maybe even hit the gym before my family wakes up. This seems like it could be a very good day.
